Sorry for the lack of updates. I’ve had technical difficulties 🙁 The sales assistant cancelled my account with my internet provider instead of upgrading my plan. I’ve only got internet back a few hours ago so hopefully starting this week I will go back to my usual at-least-once-a-week schedule.
Summer in Australia is nothing to be trifled with, especially when temperatures start rising. A few days ago, it was 42 degrees and even then temperatures can still go up. To help beat the heat here are some of my beauty favourites.
My number one essential for summer or all year round would be sunscreen. My all time favourite would be the Biore Aqua Watery Essence (SPF50PA+++). It’s a japanese sunscreen so it might be a bit harder to track down but its all worth it. This sunscreen is similar in texture to an opaque gel. It’s moisturising and it doesn’t take much to absorb into your skin. The product leaves no sticky residue which is somewhat hard to come across in high spf sunscreens. The only downside is that you only get about 50g of product in the tube. It’ll last you a while if you only use it on your face since a little does go a long way. If you’re using it on your body as well then it’ll be gone quicker. The product also is affordable but it is not cheap by any means. At my asian cosmetics store it is AU$17.95 although I have bought it on eBay before for AU$13.95.
If I had to leave the house with only one makeup product, for me it would be concealer. I had a horrible sleeping pattern which has been going on for years. I would sleep at around 3am in the morning give or take and wake up at different times of the day depending on what I had planned to do. For when I had school I would have had to wake up at 6:30am so this means 3 and a half hours sleep! Crazy, I know right? I have no idea how I survived back then (lots of coffee I bet). This sort of pattern has been going on since yr9 when I was about 14 now I’m 18. That’s a long time, so for the past few months I’ve been trying to regulate my sleeping pattern again. The point of this long winded story is that because of my inconsistent sleeping pattern and lack of sleep I got really bad dark circles so I need concealer to cover it up or else I look like a tired zombie. My recommended two concealers would be the Maybelline NY Age-Rewind or Nars Creamy Concealer. In my case, the Age Rewind concealer is good for those days where I don’t really want any brightening just plain ‘ole coverage since the shade medium is an exact match for my skin colour. The Nars concealer on the other hand is for when I have extra bad dark circles and need that extra umpf under my eyes. It is more thick and has more coverage to it than the Maybelline one. They both cater to different markets but are easily accessible to purchase.
For me a tinted lip balm or a moisturising liquid lipstick is a must for me especially in the heat. This type of product gives your lips some colour as well as moisturises them. I have 3 products to recommend; 2 liquid lipsticks and a tinted lip balm. The two liquid lipsticks are the Rimmel Apocalips in 101 Celestial and the Rimmel Provocalips in 200 I’ll Call You. For majority of the previous year the Apocalips was my favourite as it was a close match to my actual lip colour and it was such an easy and convenient product for touch ups. It was just a matter of opening the tube, applying the product then blotting it to make the colour last longer. The only problem that really bugged me was that the product would sometimes emphasise my dry patches which is not a good look. When the Provocalips came out, I tried it out and the super long lasting power won me over. I mean, a liquid lipstick that can last supeeeer long on your lips that also comes with a lipgloss; yes please! This product would be amazing in summer just because it lasts long and is food and drink resistant. The other product which was pretty much my go to product of 2014 would be the Aritaum Honey Melting Tint in Bitter Rose. I can’t get enough of this product (aside from the scent that is)! It’s moisturising and creamy and I’ve already used up just about half the tube thats how much I like it. The one thing in common for all of these lip products is their colour range. I have a tenancy to pick products with the deep pink-esque colour scheme just because that colour is similiar to what my actual lip colour is. I think lip products make all the difference to a look whether you’re aiming for a natural or an extravagant one. I personally feel as though I look more put together when I have a lip product on but that’s just me.
I’ll also sneak in Sunglasses since they’re a no brainer for anyone. Sunnies have many purposes; to protect your eyes from the harsh sunlight, to allow you to see in sunny conditions, to hide away those dark circles when you’re having a no makeup day plus they’re a fashion statement too.
They’re a few other essential products such as Paw Paw Ointment and Aloe Vera Gel but they’re sort of self-explanatory.
(I haven’t posted in a while and I sorta went a bit crazy and rambled alot. Whoops)
What’s your summer essential?
