Today, I’ll be telling you all about 3 fun winter activities that will get you out of the house and into the not-so-sunny sunshine.
First off, is Glenelg’s Annual Winter Wonderland which features an ice skating rink, located at Moseley Square near the Tram stop and McDonald’s. It starts on the 2nd and ends on the 31st of July so get in early before the school holiday rush. Adult admission is $12.50 and a child admission (2 to 15) is $7.50 for 1 hour of skating around. More information here.
The second is the Finders Keeper’s Market. It’s their first time in Adelaide after the success of the east coast markets. I’m expecting interstate traders and small businesses with fun and quirky products as it claims to be “the country’s biggest and best art and design market”. I believe that this market will be successful judging from the facebook event. This market if it does well will rival Adelaide’s own design market; Bowerbird Baazar. Like Bowerbird, the Finders Keeper’s market will be held over 2.5 days on Friday the 12th (6pm – 10pm), Saturday the 13th (10am – 5pm) and Sunday the 13th (10am – 5pm). Admission is $2 with children under 12 free!
Another fun event this winter would be to go see Finding Dory! Finding Dory is the long awaited sequel of the 2003 hit Finding Nemo. Voiced by Ellen DeGeneres, this movie will have every 20 something year old running to the theater to reminisce about their childhood. Although you can watch this movie at any movie theater, go to Oaktree’s screening at Capri Theater on Goodwood Road. All proceeds from this event will go to “Oaktree’s partner organisations in Cambodia, Timor-Leste and Papua New Guinea, that provide education to impoverished children”. It’s very fitting that we’re able to help kids in these countries by watching a movie that made a mark on our own childhood. The event is on the 2nd of July at 6pm! You can RSVP here and link to the facebook page is here.
